LICHTenberg

By Day: History. By Night: Light.

An almost 100-year-old public bath becomes a world of light and sound: LICHTenberg. Two halls, two worlds: light transforms the historic architecture into an immersive stage, sound becomes visible and light becomes audible. By day a play of light, by night a light orchestra.

A Historic Public Bath Becomes a Canvas for Light and Sound

Two halls. Two worlds. Each with its own atmosphere.

Historic Site, Reimagined Historic Site, Reimagined

Step into the 100-year-old Stadtbad Lichtenberg: originally opened in 1928 as a magnificent public bath, it housed two large swimming halls with separate pools — a place created for the health and leisure of Berlin's population. Today, this historic building is being transformed into an immersive exhibition space. Not only the content, but the place itself tells a story spanning almost a century.

17 LED Lines Through the Pool The Main Hall as a Light Show

Light brings the historic main hall to life. Colors spread through the space, move to the rhythm of the music, and make the architecture appear anew again and again. Light, movement, and sound create an immersive audiovisual composition that draws visitors into the middle of the action.

Two Halls, Two Worlds Two Halls, Two Worlds

In the side hall, visitors find a second, more intimate world of light. On an LED surface of around 200 m², light, color, movement and sound merge into an audiovisual staging. Abstract shapes, flowing structures and dynamic worlds of light transform the entire surface and let new images emerge again and again.

A Light Show by Day Day and Night

Depending on the time of day, you experience LICHTenberg differently. The light show runs by day just as it does in the evening. As soon as it gets dark, the light orchestra unfolds its full effect. By day, on the other hand, more of the historic architecture can be seen: the natural light makes the details and the history of the Stadtbad visible.

About the experience

About LICHTenberg LICHTenberg is the next exhibition at the Stadtbad. An almost 100-year-old public bath becomes a world of light and sound: two halls, two worlds. Light floods the main hall, 17 LED lines run through the pool, accompanied by a new 10×20m LED floor that brings the historic swimming hall to life in a completely new light. Each of the two swimming halls tells its own story of light, sound, and architecture.
